Market Analysis: Jordan Is 2023’s Resell Sneaker Brand of the Year 🥇 

Nike and Jordan continue their reign as the most popular sneaker brands. 👑 Both had a MASSIVE lead in overall resale count over other sneakers in 2023, with adidas, New Balance, and Crocs rounding out the top 5.

Price premiums (amount by which the resell price exceeds the retail price) generally trended lower across the year. Crocs outperformed all brands in average price premium %, helped out by their low average retail price. 50% average price premium equaled an average premium of $32 for Crocs. Meanwhile, Jordan coupled another year of strong demand with a top 3 finish in price premium %, averaging a 30% premium over retail. That % led to an average Jordan premium of $45.

Declining price premiums makes sense within the context of market-wide declines in prices. From January to December, the only brand that saw a positive price change last year was Common Projects, whose sale count paled in comparison to the big brands. Of those high volume brands, adidas’s dive stands out.

Nike and Jordan fared better than average in this year’s slump. A look at the price change across the year for the most popular sneaker models reinforces that story. While these models weren’t immune to the falling market, 6 of the top 10 performing models were Jordan.

While Jordan didn’t outshine its peers in every category this year, it was a strong performer across many, making it our 2023 Resell Sneaker of the Year.
